Acupuncture History is Black History

Did you know?

In the 1970s, the Black Panther Party and the Young Lords recognized the devastating impact of heroin addiction in their communities. In response, they organized and established the Lincoln Detox Center in the South Bronx, NYC, where they pioneered the use of 5NP ear acupuncture as a treatment. This led to the development of the National Acupuncture Detox Association (NADA) protocol, also known as the 5 Needle Protocol!

We honor the legacy of Black activists and healers who brought  acupuncture as a healing tool for black and brown folks. We are committed to doing the same, offering accessible and affordable healthcare, free 5NP clinics for all, and teaching the use of 5NP acupuncture to folks in our community in order to create more pathways to healing. May we continue to love and take care of one another.

Dearest Reader...

Earlier this month, a group of behavioral, mental health, recovery/detox professionals and nurses came together to learn about the 5NP protocol. Now, AAT* Trainees are seeking volunt(ears!) to help get more ear poking reps in. By volunteering you would be helping folks get one step closer to completing their training to use 5NP in their practice. Will you support their learning practice?

 Details in e-flyer below!

On a day when love is celebrated in all its forms, we want to highlight one of the most important loves you can give: self love. PCA’s gentle reminder that it is equally as important to nurture your relationship with yourself. By taking care of you, you’re better able to care for those around you.

While it’s easy to overlook the simple act of being present with ourselves, today we invite you to step away from the noise, even if for just 5 minutes. Find a moment to sit still, acknowledge your breath, and focus on reconnecting with yourself.

We are so grateful for the love and trust that you have give our clinic, and we hope you feel the love from us in return. Take care and remember, if you need a moment to slow down, we are here for u <3

With warmth and gratitude,  PCA
